On 15. September 2025, the European Commission launched its new 𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐠𝐲 𝐭𝐨 𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐠𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐧 𝐄𝐮𝐫𝐨𝐩𝐞’𝐬 𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐜𝐡 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐞𝐜𝐡𝐧𝐨𝐥𝐨𝐠𝐲 𝐢𝐧𝐟𝐫𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐮𝐜𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞𝐬.
To boost Europe’s leadership in scientific excellence and technological innovation, the strategy builds on a set of actions in 5 areas:
1. Strengthening the European research and technology infrastructures ecosystem
2. Ensuring simpler and better access to research and technology infrastructures
3. Attracting and cultivating talent in Europe
4. Improving and simplifying the governance framework for research and technology infrastructures
5. Strengthening the international dimension and resilience of research and technology infrastructures
The new strategy provides a comprehensive strategic framework for guiding the implementation of the relevant research and technology infrastructure actions, and is in line with the high ambition for infrastructures of the proposal for Horizon Europe in the EU’s next Multiannual Financial Framework (2028-2034).
