Press Release – DOSS Project Start

New EU Research and Innovation Project DOSS: SECURE-BY-DESIGN IOT OPERATION WITH SUPPLY CHAIN CONTROL

The consortium of industrial actors, research institutes, and academia from 6 European countries focuses on improving the resilience of IoT supply chains.

Budapest, 19. September 2023 – The tight collaboration of 11 European partners is looking to improve the security and reliability of IoT operations by introducing to IoT Supply Chains an integrated monitoring and validation framework that includes all the relevant actors.

The technologies to be implemented comprise a newly defined, machine readable “Device Security Passport”, containing relevant information about hardware components of a system; an integrated component tester to assess 3rd party applications as well as in-house development; an architecture for cybersecurity threat modelling; a security validator to assure compliance with standards and regulations; and a set of tools to protect IoT operation that provides feedback to earlier stages of the Supply Trust Chain. The project will run for a period of three years with EUR 5 million funding from the European Commission’s Horizon Europe program.

The concept is based on the security by design paradigm covering both product and operation security validation and assurance, as well as all stages of a product life cycle from design through implementation and distribution to operation and end of life decommissioning.

DOSS project results will be validated in three IoT use-cases – industrial (prosumer cell operation), consumer (smart home), automotive (connected car).

The consortium encompasses all stakeholders of the IoT ecosystem, including service operators, OEMs, technology providers, developers, and security research experts. End users will be involved in a living lab environment.

The project is coordinated by Atos Hungary.
