LIFESEC 2026 will take place next week

By June 16, 2026June 28th, 2026News

The 2nd Workshop on Whole-Lifecycle Security for Smart Systems: Methods and Tools (LIFESEC) will be held on 22 June 2026, in Messina, Italy, collocated with the 12th IEEE International Conference on Smart Computing (SmartComp 2026).

The workshop is organised by the Horizon Europe projects DOSSEMERALDCOBALTCUSTODES, TELEMETRY and CURIUM, and seeks to foster dialogue on building secure, trustworthy, and compliant smart systems.

During the workshop, two of our project colleagues will be presenting their latest research :

Anna Maria Voulkopoulou, Information Technologies Institute (ITI) Centre for Research & Technology Hellas (CERTH) will present the paper “𝐶𝑜𝑛𝑡𝑒𝑥𝑡 𝑀𝑎𝑡𝑡𝑒𝑟𝑠: 𝑉𝑢𝑙𝑛𝑒𝑟𝑎𝑏𝑖𝑙𝑖𝑡𝑦 𝐶𝑎𝑡𝑒𝑔𝑜𝑟𝑖𝑧𝑎𝑡𝑖𝑜𝑛 𝑤𝑖𝑡ℎ 𝐷𝑢𝑎𝑙-𝐼𝑛𝑝𝑢𝑡 𝐶𝑜𝑑𝑒 𝑅𝑒𝑝𝑟𝑒𝑠𝑒𝑛𝑡𝑎𝑡𝑖𝑜𝑛𝑠”, co-authored with Ilias Kalouptsoglou, Dionysios Kehagias, and Dimitrios Tzovaras.
The paper investigates how code context improves automated CWE vulnerability classification in C/C++ software, demonstrating that a dual-encoder approach combining vulnerable code lines with their surrounding function context significantly enhances categorization accuracy. This work is the result of the collaboration between the Horizon Europe projects DOSS EU and SECASSURED.

Mohammed Nasereddin, Institute of Theoretical and Applied Informatics, Polish Academy of Sciences – IITiS PAN will present “𝐷𝑒𝑝𝑙𝑜𝑦𝑚𝑒𝑛𝑡-𝐴𝑤𝑎𝑟𝑒 𝑃𝑎𝑟𝑎𝑚𝑒𝑡𝑒𝑟 𝑂𝑝𝑡𝑖𝑚𝑖𝑧𝑎𝑡𝑖𝑜𝑛 𝑓𝑜𝑟 𝐼𝑜𝑇 𝐴𝑡𝑡𝑎𝑐𝑘 𝐷𝑒𝑡𝑒𝑐𝑡𝑖𝑜𝑛”, co-authored with Erol Gelenbe.
The paper investigates deployment-aware optimization of an Auto-Associative Dense Random Neural Network (AADRNN) based IoT attack detection system, identifying parameter settings that achieve robust detection performance with low false alarm rates under realistic resource-constrained operating conditions.

Congratulations to the authors, and best wishes for a successful workshop!

The papers are available here and here.
